Hey, fellow divers! We’re Alena and Sergei—two divers who took a single Discover Scuba Diving course in the stunning underwater world of Cozumel… and never quite resurfaced the same, pretty much like all of you!
What started as “let’s just try this once” turned into a full-blown obsession. Almost overnight, we found ourselves deep in debates over fins and dive masks, then regulators, BCDs, cameras and flashlights, and all the other gear we never knew we needed.
Before long, every vacation became a dive trip. Travel dates revolved around the best dive seasons, the best conditions, and the most exciting seasonal marine life. Our photo albums? Mostly fish and coral. And dive resorts. Our browsing history? A world map of dive sites. Our friends? Fellow divers… or permanently muted.
Somewhere along the way, our dive nicknames were born—Shrimp and Grouper—and they’ve followed us ever since.
We’re endlessly fascinated by the underwater world and the stories it tells—big encounters, tiny creatures, and everything in between. We love sharing what we’ve learned, what we’ve experienced, and what still leaves us in awe.
That’s how ScubaShrimpTravel was born.
Through this blog, we hope to share our passion, our adventures, and our honest dive experiences—and maybe inspire you to plan your next dive trip, or take your very first breath underwater.

We show stunning underwater worlds, from vibrant coral gardens to famous wrecks, and marine life that call those places home. Marine life fascinates us with the curiosity they demonstrate to a respectful diver, their playful spirit, human-like behaviors, intelligence and obvious presence of a range of feelings and we hope the divers treat them with the same care and respect they treat us. We are excited to share our most memorable scuba travel adventures, favorite sites and encounters, while not shying away from our missteps because we want you to do better.
